Never again in your lifetime will the Red Planet be so spectacular! This month and next month the Earth is catching up with Mars, an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the last 5,000 years but it may be as long as 60,000 years. The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles and
Hey everyone, Almost everyone is in the desert but those who are here please come and celebrate with us. We will burn a man too, at the same time (midnight sharp for us) and that aslo kicks off Franky's birthday which is sunday.

You all may remember Caterpillar Carnage, well, Luna was now dealing with the same problem. One big, super hungry caterpillar with no food. So, I became the butterfly babysitter for a day! Jaye headed to the amazing Butterfly World for more plants, and now, most
Tropical storm Fay is still swirling and causing who knows what sorts of displacements. Happily missed days of school and work, exciting days of wind and lightning, lots of work in the yard and plenty of prayers for everyone's safety, these are a handful of things the seasonal storms bring our way. We never know how intense and destructive each storm or hurricane will be and I was not taking a chance with all my little caterpillars friends! At first I just gathered the baby ones and some of the exposed eggs but as the winds and rain increased I was out there soaking from head to toe. One by |
