The "Neon Circus" put together by the Positive Vibe Movement showed that hard work and team spirit always are the right ingredients for a successful party. From a venue that was decorated to something that can only be described as eye candy, to a great line up of DJ's who delivered a great variety of funky and off the hook music there was nothing left to wish for.
For those of you that couldn't attend, and for those who would like to recap on the evening, I have posted the pictures, the music and our podcast channel has been updated as well for those of you who are subscribed to our feed.
Here's the first mix that "opened" the night if you will. It's a 90-minute setup made up of mostly minimal techno, with a few minor detours into the house area here and there. Beatmassa - Live at Frankie's
Admittedly this track isn't entirely done, but I always like to get some other set of ears on things before I go for the final mix. Also having it arranged gives me the opportunity to hear which parts of the arrangement works, which parts need shortening, etc. When you're sitting in front of a song for hours which you're basically playing on repeat the entire time, it's easy to become extremely subjective and not be able to see which parts need work, and which parts don't. That said, here's a demo of my latest track titled "Anvalanche". I't not my usual in-your-face kind of breaks style I've been pushing lately, but more something in the direction of trying to become more intricate and diverse, tryign to tie in several harmonic elements, you be the judge of whether it worked or not.
I'm proud to announce that all our music is now featured in its own podcast channel. From now on all new tracks and mixes that we get, will be added to the feed thereby updating all our subscribes immediately. Last night's mix which has already been added to the channel was a 2:20 min 3-for-3 mix session featuring Biggaman, Beatmassa, Lex0r, Indovisual and Dj Simplex. Critics may say it was a Stanton Warriors Promo Mix lol and where I can't disagree much from that I think it's safe to say it's still a damn solid compilation of some of the phatter breaks tunes out there now. If anyone needs the code to put this on their page, let me know and I'll send you a zip file with all the info. I'll try to make a post in the forum so people know how to add this to their signature or Myspace, Facebook, etc if they want. Without further a due, The Positive Vibe Movement Podcast.
Ok folks I thought I'd spend a quick minute devoted to the resources we have at our disposal here on the site. As you may know or not know, we have an audio player which you can get to by clicking on the "Audio" link located in the top menu bar. Once you're on this page, the player will load up in its entirety. The front page shows the main categories, and one you click on either of them you will see the child elements of that category. I'm still in the process of building more of an archive of tunes, but for now I've completed getting three mixes featured from our weekend at Moksha. Why am I telling you all this?
