[edit] Introduction
Our blog features a plugin called podpress which can be used to play audio files directly in the article as shown here. It will generate a download button, or the ability to play the file in a pop up audio player.
[edit] Preparation
- In order to be able to choose the respective audio file it has to be uploaded first. Please read this article on ftp uploads to our site.
- The location for the file has to be the following:
/public_html/audio
- To test whether the upload was successful, simply type in the URL of the file you uploaded into your browser. The syntax is as follows:
http://www.positivevibemovement.com/audio/yourfile.mp3
- If the file starts playing or your browser prompts you download the file, the upload was successful.
[edit] Article Integration
- If the above steps were followed correctly, your mp3's should now be available in the podpress selector, located inside the article posting area. Please refer to the screenshot below.
- Once that button is clicked the podpress options will appear as shown below.
- The next screenshot shows the selector, the tracks that appear. Please locate the earlier uploaded file and select it. The remaining options are optional. For example there is the option to auto detect the size and time, and if executed this information will be displayed next to the player in the article.
- That completes the part of preparing podpress to integrate an audio file into the post. If the article is completed otherwise, it can be published.
[edit] Other Tips
Ideally the files shouldn't exceed 100mb and be in mp3 format. If you're having problems getting the player to make sure the file is actually uploaded into the right directory and that the test was successful. Should the player still not appear or play the file as described, please email me.
